Romanian Peasants Museum
O my mirror, my little mirror, who is the most beautiful museum in Romania? The most beautiful museum in today's Romania, the Romanian Peasant's Museum opens a window and a door towards a fabulous and captivating world, that of peasant art and spirituality in their biggest expression. Having in its collections over 100.000 objects, many of them of an exceptional artistic value. The museum has been conspicuous by its museologic speech in which tradition is presented in a fresh modern language and modernism is totally in service of tradition. The museum convincingly expresses many of the defining peculiarities of the Romanian cultural and spiritual identity. The museum's building, built between 1912 and 1941 in neoromanian style, after a design from the well-known architect Nicolae Ghika-Budesti is cataloguized under the Romanian architectural monuments list. The Romanian peasant's Museum was awarded in 1996 the trophy and prize of European Museum of the Year and 8 other important prizes have been awarded in the last years.
